Important information about time and eligibility restrictions, as well as further requirements:

  • CSO/HRD has a track record of human rights work
  • Threat occurred within the last 3 months
  • Threat related to human rights work
  • CSO is completely non-violent
  • Means to independently verify details of the threat and the CSO’s human rights credentials (references) provided
  • If submitting on behalf of a CSO, they must confirm that they request assistance

About the fund:

Through Freedom House and Front Line Defenders, Lifeline provides small, short-term emergency grants to CSOs threatened because of their human rights work.
Lifeline grants can address security, medical expenses, legal representation, prison visits, trial monitoring, temporary relocation, equipment replacement, and other urgently needed expenses.

Applications are available in Arabic, English, Farsi, French, Russian, and Spanish.
